UPDATE: Names released in fatal Wayne County accident

WAYNE, W.Va. (AP) - The names of a husband and wife who died in a fatal accident in Wayne County have been released.

The Herald-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/2qh5Fq1 ) reports 37-year-old Roy Caldwell and 33-year-old Lakisha Sue Caldwell of Wayne were killed in the May 9 accident on state Route 152, which connects Wayne to Huntington and Interstate 64.

Sheriff Rick Thompson says the couple's car crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle. Both vehicles ignited on impact.

The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.

The crash occurred one week after two men were killed in a head-on collision on Route 152.

WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Wayne County Sheriff Rick Thompson tells WSAZ a second person has died after an accident Tuesday.

The accident happened between a car and SUV on Route 152 in Wayne County near German Ridge Road.

According to the sheriff, the two people inside of the car died in the accident.

The driver of the SUV was taken to an area hospital where she is being treated and expected to be released.

Sheriff Thompson says the car was traveling north when it crossed the center line and struck the SUV going south.

Route 152 was closed for several hours while the accident was processed and cleaned up.

The road has since reopened.

There is no word on the identity of the people who were killed in the crash.

WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One person is dead and a mother is counting her blessings after a car accident and fire in Wayne County.

Route 152 in Wayne County is closed in both directions near German Ridge Hill in Lavalette after a car and SUV crashed.

According to a passerby, the car was on fire when he came up on the accident and woman was crawling out of the SUV.

The passerby ran up to the woman and helped her get away since the car was burning.

The passerby tells WSAZ it was too late to help the other driver.

The parents of the woman driving the SUV said they thanked God she was not injured worse and that her kids were not with her at the time of the accident.

No other information is available at this time.

The accident happened around 12:30 on Route 152 near German Ridge Hill in Lavalette.
