A man has been sentenced after leaving the scene of a fatal accident earlier this year.

Anthony Ward, of Columbus, has been sentenced to 1-5 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident involving death.

Ward left the scene of a fatal accident near 11th Street and Madison Avenue on May 14.

Ronald Mannis, 44, of Charleston, died in the crash. Three other people were taken to the hospital.

Ward was also given a $1,000 fine.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man wanted after he left the scene of a fatal accident last month is under arrest.

Huntington Police arrested Anthony Ward, 33, of Columbus, Thursday morning on the city's west end.

Ward left the scene of a fatal accident near 11th Street and Madison Avenue on May 14.

Police had been looking for Ward since the accident happened.

Ronald Mannis, 44, of Charleston, died in the crash on May 14. Three other people were taken to the hospital.

He was arrested Thursday after a traffic stop at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and 19th Street West. Cocaine was found in the waistband of Ward's underwear.

Ward is charged with three counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving death or serious injury

Ward appeared before a Cabell County Magistrate and was placed on a $400,000 cash only bond.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The name of the person killed in an accident Sunday afternoon has been released.

Huntington Police say Ronald Mannis, 44, of Charleston, died in the crash near the intersection of 11th Street and Madison Avenue on the city's west side.

Three vehicles, including a taxi, crashed at the location, according to a release.

Police say a man driving a vehicle involved in the crash took off on foot after the crash and is currently being sought by police.

Huntington Police are continuing to investigate the crash.


UPDATE 5/14/17 @ 10:08 p.m.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Huntington Police say they are searching for a person who took off after a fatal crash.

It happened near the intersection of 11th Street West and Madison Avenue around 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Huntington Police Department says a car ran a stop sign.

HPD says four people were taken to the hospital. One person later died.

Their name has not been released.

According to HPD, the person who may have caused the crash took off on foot. They have not been caught.

Huntington Fire Department also responded.
