KANAWHA COUNTY W.Va (WSAZ) -- A new Hobby Lobby location opened Monday morning in the Southridge Shopping Center.
A new Hobby Lobby location opened up in the Southridge shopping center in South Charleston.
Lines to the store were out the door as people waited for the main doors to open at 9 a.m.
Hobby Lobby submitted plans for the store back in March.
To celebrate the new store, employees and managers gathered around as a ribbon was cut. Some customers were at the store by 7:45 a.m.
"My daughter heard on the news that it was 8 o'clock so she got me up earlier, and we thought we were going to be late but we're fine," said Donna Hurst, a shopper.
West Virginia State Treasurer John Perdue and representatives from the Charleston Mayor's office were at the event.
Shoppers at the event claimed the store has everything someone interested in crafts needs, along with being inspirational. But other customers had hobbies closer to heart.
"To be honest with you, I've seen my parents' wedding pictures and how they have deteriorated over the years because they were not preserved properly," said Walter Zangeneh, a shopper. "So, I don't want the same thing to happen my pictures."
The Hobby Lobby in Southridge is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. every weekday and is closed on Sundays. Hours may vary on holidays.
