UPDATE: Name released in deadly crash on I-64

UPDATE 3/7/16 @ 3:13 p.m.

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Milton Police have released the name of a man who died in a crash on I-64 Sunday night.

The crash happened about 9:30 p.m. near Milton.

Milton Police say Ralph Cutlip, 58, of Milton, was driving west when he lost control. Police say his van flipped through the median and into the eastbound lanes.

Milton Police tell WSAZ the van came to a stop on its side and was hit T-bone style by an oncoming pickup truck.

The van caught fire.

Cutlip was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people in the truck, believed to be from Hurricane, received non-life threatening injuries. They were taken to the hospital to be treated. Their names have not been released.

The road was closed for five hours after the accident.

This is the second accident in this area in the past few months. In December, Chester McCarty, 71, of Chesapeake, Ohio, died in a three-vehicle crash. Family members believed he suffered a heart attack prior to the crash.

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Interstate 64 near the Cabell County-Putnam County line is s back open after a deadly crash.

The crash involved an pickup and van. It happened Sunday night about 9:30 p.m., at the 31 mile marker near Milton.

According to officials at the scene, the driver of a van heading west lost control, crossed the median, and then hit a pickup truck in the eastbound lanes head-on.

The crash caused the van to catch fire, and the driver was killed.

The driver of the truck was transported to a nearby hospital.

The name of the person killed has not been released.

The lanes reopened about 2:30 a.m. Monday.

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One person is dead and another injured after a crash on Interstate 64 at mile marker 31, between the Milton and Hurricane exits.

According to officials on scene, a van was headed eastbound on I-64 and a pickup was headed westbound.

The driver of the van truck lost control of the vehicle and crossed the median, hitting the pickup head on.

The crash caused the van to catch fire, and the driver was killed.

The driver of the truck was transported to a nearby hospital.

His condition is not known at this time.

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- All lanes of Interstate 64 at mile marker 31, between the Milton and Hurricane exits, are shut down in both directions.

Dispatchers responded to the two vehicle accident just after 9:30 Sunday night.

They say traffic is now being diverted off the East Bound Milton exit and the West Bound Hurricane exit.

Crews on scene say a vehicle caught fire and a medical helicopter was brought in to take a patient to the hospital.

No word yet on the extent of any injuries.
