Fast lane of I-77 SB at MM 109 in Kanawha County back open

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 1/10/19 @ 7:25 a.m..
The fast lane of I-77 south is now back open at mile marker 109, just north of Charleston.

Both lanes were shut down at the Tuppers Cr. exit after a tractor trailer fire.

The truck was hauling plastic pellets.

The brakes on the trailer caught fire.

The cab wasn't affected, but the trailer was heavily damaged.

Firefighters with the Sissonville Fire Department say it could take a while to reopen the slow lane.

A semi truck that was on fire has closed I-77 SB at MM 109 in Kanawha County.

All southbound lanes near Tuppers Creek interchange are shut down.

The fire is out now. It happened around 5:30 Thursday morning.

According to the Sissonville Fire Department, the trailer was hauling plastic pellets. They believe the brakes caught on fire. The cab separated from the trailer, so it did not catch fire.

No one was hurt in the accident.

Officials at the scene say it will take a while to reopen all lanes.
