Injuries reported after ambulance crashes into creek bed
PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Emergency crews responded to an accident involving one of their own this afternoon when an ambulance plunged into a creek bed injuring those on board.
The accident happened on Route 34 near the intersection of Route 35 in Putnam County.
A Teays Valley Fire Department ambulance with two crew members were transporting a patient for dialysis when the ambulance left the road and hit a telephone pole, according to Putnam County Sheriff Steve Deweese.
After hitting the pole the ambulance traveled about another 30 yards off the road behind the guardrail and ended up in a shallow creek.
The two crew members and the patient were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
