Kentucky bus driver arrested for DUI, 33 children on bus

OLDHAM COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) -- A Kentucky bus driver is facing 33 counts of wanton endangerment along with several other charges after police say she drove a school bus, under the influence and with 33 students on board.

According to the Oldham County Police Department, an official from the Oldham County Board of Education contacted police about a bus driver that had been involved in a non-injury collision, and alcohol was suspected to be involved.

Police say they conducted an investigation and arrested the bus driver, Lesley Harvey of Crestwood, Kentucky on several charges including, one count Operating a Motor Vehicle U/influence of Alcohol, one count Failure to Report an Accident, one count Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and 33 Counts of Wanton Endangerment.

The investigation revealed that Ms. Harvey hit several security poles at the entrance of a subdivision on her bus route with 33 students on board the bus.

Police say Ms. Harvey reported to her supervisor that she had hit something, but there was no damage and was continuing on her
route. No students were injured in the collision, and the bus sustained minor damage.

Oldham County Schools had Ms. Harvey stop, responded to her location, and as is their policy, took her to the hospital for a breath test.

The Oldham County Police Department was contacted and responded to the hospital.

According to police, Ms. Harvey was transported to the Oldham County Detention Center.
