Labor Day float attracts swimmers to the Elk River

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Many people see Labor Day as the last day to enjoy the pool and sunshine.

On Monday, dozens of people were out enjoying the Elk River as part of the West Virginia Rivers Coalition's Elkspedition Paddle and Picnic.

ACE Adventure was in town to supply the floating devices and community members could hop on anything from a kayak, canoe or raft.

Folks ended the float at Coonskin Park in Charleston. There paddlers were treated to a free old-fashioned BBQ picnic, featuring live music.

ACE Adventure has been running raft trips along the Gauley or New Rivers since 1980.
