Levy to fund Hurricane projects passes easily

A levy that has been in place in Hurricane since 1947 was renewed by voters Saturday.

HURRICANE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A levy that has been in place in Hurricane since 1947 was renewed by voters Saturday.

Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards said the levy passed 201-17.

The levy will generate $400,000 annually to support the city's street department and police.

Some projects that will be funded include paving and concrete work, police training, and projects and training that benefit the safety of the community.
