Man arrested on DUI charges with small children in the car
A Kanawha County man was arrested late Friday night after law enforcement says they observed his car swerve into lanes of oncoming traffic. The man had two young children in the car.
West Virginia State Police say Michael Auber failed multiple field sobriety tests and blew a .156 BAC. He faces a DUI charge.
West Virginia State Police tell WSAZ just before 10:00 Friday night, an officer was driving on Cabin Creek Road when a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo pulled out. State Police say the Monte Carlo was going 60 mph in a 40 mph zone, and then crossed over the center yellow line into the opposing lane of traffic.
After stopping that car, State Police say they saw two young children, ages 2 and 6 when they approached. Auber, the driver, was seen with bloodshot, glassy eyes and there was a strong alcoholic odor coming from the car.
Auber was taken before a Kanawha County Magistrate for arraignment and was booked into the South Central Regional Jail on $3,000 bond.
