PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 2/26/19 @ 9:45 p.m.
The case against a murder suspect in Putnam County is now headed to the grand jury.

On Tuesday, a magistrate determined there is enough evidence in the case against Russell Lewis.

The magistrate also denied a request by Lewis for his bond to be reduced.

Investigators say last August, Lewis got in a fight with his wife and left their home in Bancroft.

When he returned he found the victim, Timothy Pierson, hiding in his garage.

The pair got into a fight. When paramedics arrived, they found Pearson on the flood with a head wound. They said the floor was covered in blood and there was a broken beer bottle near his head.

Pierson died at the hospital a few weeks later.

A juvenile was also charged with second-degree murder in the case.

UPDATE 9/18/18 @ 9:36 a.m.
A juvenile is facing a murder charge in connection with a deadly fight in Putnam County.

Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff's Department say the juvenile was arrested Friday and charged with 2nd degree murder.

Another suspect, Russell Lee Lewis, is facing a murder charge in the case.

The pair are accused of killing Timothy Pierson. Deputies say the charge stems from an incident at Lewis' home on Rio Vista Lane in Bancroft on Aug. 18.

Investigators say Lewis left his home after an argument with his wife. While he was gone, his wife allegedly let Pierson into the home. When Lewis returned, he found Pierson hiding in the garage and the men got into a fight, according to deputies.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Pierson lying on the garage floor with a large amount of blood on his clothing. A broken beer bottle was found near his head. Paramedics told deputies Pierson suffered extreme trauma to the head.

Pierson was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries on Sept. 8.
