UPDATE: Name released in fatal pedestrian accident

UPDATE 11/8/17 @ 1:57 a.m.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies have released the name of the man killed in a pedestrian accident.

Deputies say Gary Ray Jarrett, 68, was killed while walking on Silas Kanawha Two Mile Road near Sissonville.

It happened about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Deputies say Jarrett was walking along a guardrail with his wife and was hit by a white Jeep Wrangler and killed.

Jarrett's wife was not hit.

Deputies on scene performed field sobriety tests on the driver of the Jeep as a precaution, but found no evidence of impairment or distracted driving.

The road remains closed at this time.

According to an automated call from Kanawha County Schools, students in the area who ride bus 715 will not be taken home today. Parents will need to go to their school to pick them up.

Emergency crews are responding to a fatal pedestrian accident in Sissonville.

Metro 911 Dispatchers say it happened about 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday along Kanawha Two Mile Road in Sissonville.

Deputies say a man was walking along a guardrail and was hit by a white Jeep Wrangler and killed.

There is no word on who victim was at this time.

No word on how the accident happened.

The road is closed at this time.
