UPDATE | Man dies after being struck by pickup truck; name released

ALUM CREEK, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 9/18/19 @ 5:15 p.m.
The name of a man who was hit and killed Wednesday morning by a pickup truck has been released.

A man died after being struck by a pickup truck. The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on Childress Road in the Alum Creek area of Kanawha County.

Harvey Slonaker II, 53, of Alum Creek, was pronounced dead by medics who arrived at the scene on Childress Road, the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department says.

Investigators say the pickup truck driver remained on scene and immediately called 911.

The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. on an incline, just outside a curve in the roadway. Deputies say fog may have been a a factor at the time.

Crash reconstruction experts are helping investigators determine how the accident happened.

A man has died after being hit by a pickup truck on Childress Road in Alum Creek.

It happened just after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies believe the man was in the roadway when the crash occurred.

Childress Road near Shadyview Lane is expected to be closed for at least three hours while crews reconstruct the accident.

EMS, law enforcement, and fire fighters are on the scene.
