UPDATE: Man sentenced in shooting death of friend
FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A man has been sentenced to prison after he pled guilty to shooting and killing his friend.
Robert Brown Jr. was sentenced to 40 years in prison on a second degree murder charge.
According to a release, Brown shot and killed Jamal Calhoun at Brown's home on Broadway Avenue in Oak Hill.
The motive for the shooting appeared to be revenge over a prior incident.
Brown said Calhoun made verbal threats to him the day before and the morning of the murder.
Brown pled guilty to the crime on February 27.
FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A man pleaded guilty Monday to the murder of a friend in late 2014 in Oak Hill, Fayette County Prosecutor Larry Hannah announced.
Robert I. Brown Jr. pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for Jamaal Calhoun's death. Calhoun was shot to death at Brown’s home along Broadway Avenue in Oak Hill. It happened Nov. 13, 2014.
The two men were friends, and the motive appeared “to be revenge over a prior incident,” according to a news release from Hannah.
Brown faces a prison term of 10 to 40 years when he’s sentenced March 31.
