UPDATE 11/26/17 @ 8:05 p.m.

Investigators have released new information pertaining to what may have led to an alleged altercation between actress Naya Rivera and her husband, actor Ryan Dorsey, Saturday night in Kanawha County.

The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office says Rivera and her husband, actor Ryan Dorsey, were arguing over their child when Rivera hit Dorsey several times in the head and face.

Dorsey told deputies he has video evidence of the incident on his cell phone. Investigators reviewed the video Saturday and decided to charge Rivera.

Deputies also say that Rivera was drunk during the alleged altercation. It is unclear if Dorsey was under the influence at the time, according to investigators.

Rivera allegedly hit Dorsey in the head and bottom lip. Dorsey did not require any medical attention, according to deputies.

Investigators say it happened as the two were on a walk with their young child through a neighborhood in Chesapeake, approximately 20 minutes outside of Charleston. That is where the family was staying with family members, according to deputies. Dorsey is a native of Chesapeake, according to the actor's online profiles.

"I don't think that domestic violence is a one-sided problem where only men are aggressors and only women are victims. That's not the case," Sgt. Brian Humphreys said Sunday during a press conference. "Regardless of who commits a crime, regardless of their sex, race or their socioeconomic conditions, we're going to try to arrest the person who committed the crime."

Humphreys also noted that the video was one of the key factors in charging Rivera. "I can just say that there was enough in the video to corroborate the statement of the video and that was why the decision was made that was made. There was some independent corroboration for what he said happened."

Both Rivera and Dorsey are actors. One of Rivera's most well-known roles is as Santana Lopez on the television series "Glee." Dorsey has appeared on shows including "Pitch" and "Nashville."

We're also told the 911 calls related to the incident may be released this week after investigators consult with the prosecuting attorney's office.
