Mountain Health Network has a new president and CEO.

He’s Michael Mullins, retired captain of the Medical Service Corps and U.S. Naval Reserves.

Mullins says he hopes to grow the new regional health system that includes Cabell Huntington Hospital, St. Mary’s Medical Center, and Pleasant Valley Hospital.

“We have to remember we have two separate hospitals and they are going to remain two separate hospitals because we're going to honor those who have come before us,” Mullins said. “We're going to respect the Catholic and ethical religious directives that are at St. Marys. So there are some limitation. But at the end of the day we're going to communicate well. We're going to collaborate well and we're going to cooperate well and we're going to be successful.”

Mullins is coming from a nonprofit Catholic health system and has more than 30 years of hospital leadership experience.
