POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 4/24/19 @ 11:54 a.m.
Court documents reveal new details about a deadly shooting in Mason County, including the victim's identity and what police found when they got on scene.

Christopher Eugene Elliot, 42, of Point Pleasant, is charged with murder.

The Point Pleasant Police Department responded to a 911 call just before 1:30 Monday afternoon. The caller reported shots fired in the 2300 block of Jefferson Avenue.

Police officers, along with deputies from the Mason County Sheriff's Office, arrived and saw Elliot leave the house. He was wearing bloody jeans. Police say he did not have a shirt or shoes on.

Investigators put Elliot in handcuffs and found the victim inside, lying in a bed with a gunshot wound "almost in the middle of her forehead."

The victim was identified as Joyel Goff -- the suspect's girlfriend.

Police also found a handgun with a magazine that had been fired and was missing one bullet.

According to the criminal complaint, Elliot told investigators he and Goff were the only people in the house at the time of the shooting. Police did not find anybody else there.

A deputy later spoke with a woman who says the victim warned her this might happen. She gave police a statement that says she gave Goff a ride to the grocery store on April 11.

"The victim had stated that she and the defendant owned a .40 caliber handgun and the defendant was going to kill her and that he had placed the gun to her head several times already," the criminal complaint states. "She then stated that she wouldn't leave him because she loved him."
