UPDATE | Victim identified in deadly St. Albans shooting

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 10/13/19 @ 5:15 p.m.
Police have identified the name of a man they was shot and killed Saturday.

St. Albans police say Michael Monson, 22, from St. Albans died in the incident.

It all happened after an argument on the 2200 block of Monroe Avenue in St. Albans around 11:15 p.m. Saturday.

Police say Monson had either currently or previously resided at the home. Once getting to the house, he and the man inside got into an altercation leading to Monson getting shot once in the abdomen.

"My brother was my best friend," said Monson's sister, Maria Monson.
"Michael and I were adopted when we were little so he is the only blood that I have and now he's gone."

"I was with Michael every day," said Monson's best friend, Cody Rhodes. "We would cook together, we had plans to own our own restaurant together. He was always funny, always laughing and always happy."

Police have not released which person shot Monson or his relationship with the woman who lived at the home at this time.

Investigators are still working the case and will meet with the prosecutors office to determine if any charges will be filed.

One man has died after a shooting out of Kanawha County.

It all happened on the 2200 block of Monroe Avenue in St. Albans around 11:15 p.m. Saturday.

St. Albans Police Chief, Joe Crawford, says the victim went to the home of a woman he knew and got into an argument with another man while there.

An argument broke out eventually leading to the victim to being shot once in the abdomen.

The man shot was taken to the hospital but later died of his injuries.

The victim's name has not been released at this time.

Police are still investigating the incident and will meet with the prosecutor's office to see if charges will be filed.
