A person was hit and killed Monday night by a vehicle in the Clendenin area of Kanawha County, West Virginia.
The name of the man hit and killed by a vehicle in Kanawha County has been released.
According to a news release from Sheriff Mike Rutherford, Warren "Wyatt" Young, 20-years-old of Elkview, died in the incident.
It happened just after 9 Monday evening in the 5500 block Elk River Rd. North.
Deputies say the driver of a Jeep told them she drove through a curve then saw Young walking in the road and was unable to avoid hitting him.
There isn't a sidewalk or shoulder to walk on in this section of Elk River Rd. North.
Deputies said Young had his back to approaching vehicles.
They said an ambulance had passed through the area approximately five minutes earlier and the crew told deputies they nearly hit Young.
The release says an investigation will remain open until the autopsy results are reviewed, but no charges are expected for the driver at this time.

A person was hit and killed Monday night by a vehicle in the Clendenin area, Metro 911 dispatchers say.
The accident was reported just after 9 p.m. on Elk River Road North at the intersection of Arbuckle Lane. The roadway is closed in that area.
According to Metro 911, Elk River Road North in that area will be shut down "for an extended period of time."
Investigators say the victim is a male.
The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
