UPDATE | Man sentenced in Charleston stabbing

A man is heading to prison in connection with a stabbing in Kanawha County.

A judge sentenced Chase Upton, 28, of Shrewsbury, to one to five years in prison Wednesday.

Upton pleaded guilty to the unlawful wounding charge back in March.

Investigators say he stabbed the victim, Dachaun Thaxton, 23, multiple times in the chest in September 2018, causing severe injuries.

It happened at a home in the 700 block of 57th Street.

A man facing charges in connection with a stabbing last year pleaded guilty Thursday to unlawful wounding, Kanawha County court records show.

Chase Allen Upton, who is in his late 20s, is accused of stabbing Dachaun Thaxton, 23, in the chest after an argument at a home in the 700 block of 57th Street. The stabbing happened in September 2018.

Investigators say the men were arguing just before the stabbing. Thaxton was stabbed multiple times, including once in the left chest area, "causing severe injuries."

A man who surrendered Tuesday to police in connection with a stabbing has been charged with malicious wounding, Kanawha County court records show.

Chase Allen Upton, 28, is accused of stabbing Dachaun Thaxton, 23, in the chest after an argument at a home in the 700 block of 57th Street. The stabbing happened around 9 p.m. Monday.

According to court records, Upton is homeless.

Investigators say the men were arguing just before the stabbing. Thaxton was stabbed multiple times, including once in the left chest area, "causing severe injuries."

Upton was taken to the South Central Regional Jail. His bond is $15,000.

A man wanted in connection with a stabbing Monday night in Kanawha City has turned himself in, Charleston Police say.

Officers say Chase Allen Upton, 28, is accused of stabbing Dachaun Thaxton, 23, in the chest after an argument at a home in the 700 block of 57th Street. The stabbing happened around 9 p.m. Monday.

Thaxton is listed in critical condition at a Charleston hospital, police say.

Upton will be arraigned Tuesday evening in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

A suspect has been named in a stabbing in Charleston.

Charleston Police are looking for Chase Upton, 28, in connection with a stabbing that happened Monday night.

It happened around 9 p.m. in the 700 block of 57th Street in the Kanawha City area.

Police say Upton stabbed the victim, Dachaun Thaxton, 23, in the chest after a fight.

Thaxton is in critical condition in the hospital.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Upton for malicious wounding.

Police are investigating after a stabbing Monday night in the Kanawha City area.

Charleston Police say it happened around 9 p.m. near the Shops at Kanawha shopping plaza.

According to police, one person was hurt. We don’t know the extent of their injuries at this time.

Officers are searching for a suspect who ran from the scene.
