DUNBAR, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman is facing a charge of embezzlement after police say she was stealing money from the cash register at a grocery store.
Zion Latiffany Celey, 19, was working as a cashier at the Dunbar Kroger.
Dunbar Police say they were called to Kroger Tuesday night by the Loss Prevention Officer. The employee told police that Celey was stealing money from the register and placing it in her purse.
Officers say Celey was accused of taking $50 the previous day and that since April 1 she was caught several times on surveillance removing cash from the registers.
The Loss Prevention Officer told police Celey had taken cash 14 times totaling $587.57.
Police found Celey in the store Tuesday night. They say when they confronted her about the theft she gave them $75 from her pants pocket that she had taken that day.
She is being held in the South Central Regional Jail.
