Police: Woman charged for felony DUI texted boyfriend 'I'm so drunk'
DUNBAR, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman is facing a felony DUI charge after police say she ran an officer off the road just hours after texting her boyfriend, "I'm so drunk."
Mikayla Miller, 23 of Cross Lanes, is charged with felony fleeing DUI.
Dunbar Police say, just before 3 a.m. Monday, Miller was driving a Toyota truck down Roxalana Road. While driving down the road at the intersection of Caldwell Lane, she crossed the double yellow lines into the opposing traffic lane which the officer was in, according to police.
Police say the officer turned around and put on his emergency lights. Miller turned off the truck lights and made a right on Upper Midway Drive at a high rate of speed, according to a criminal complaint.
The officer caught up with the truck on Harper Valley Drive.
Police say when Miller got out of the truck she smelled like alcohol and her eyes were red and glassy looking. She admitted to drinking beer that night, according to police.
Her BAC was at 0.127 when she took the intoximeter test.
Police say she told them she crossed the center line because she was texting her boyfriend. She gave them consent to search her phone. There was a text from 2:42 a.m. that said "headed towards you." There was also a text at 12:49 a.m. saying, "I'm so drunk."
Miller will be in court Jan. 4 for a preliminary hearing.
