UPDATE: Name released of man killed by Montgomery officer

MONTGOMERY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 2/11/19 @ 3:05 p.m.
Deputies have released the name of a man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Montgomery, West Virginia.

Eric Young, 34, of Montgomery, died Monday, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened on 3rd Avenue, just about a block from Montgomery City Hall.

Montgomery Police Chief Paris Workman says an officer heard a disturbance and went to check on it when he shot and killed a man. No other details are available right now about what happened between the two.

The officer is on paid administrative leave during the investigation. Workman says the officer has three years of experience.
