UPDATE | 16 people injured in Route 35 head-on crash

JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 10/7/19 @ 12:31 a.m.
Troopers with Ohio State Highway Patrol say 16 people were injured after a head-on crash in Jackson, Ohio Sunday.

A vehicle driven by Christopher Saylor, of Athens, Ohio was traveling the wrong way on US 35 when he collided with a passenger van.

Saylor was transported to a nearby hospital by a Med flight ground unit with incapacitating injuries. The driver of the van and 14 other passengers were transported to a hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

Trooper say alcohol was a factor in the crash.

U.S. 35 was closed for an hour while the crash victims were being treated at the scene, but has reopened.

Dispatchers say multiple people are injured in a head-on crash in Jackson County, Ohio.

State Police say 13 people are being taken to the hospital.

All eastbound and westbound lanes are reopened at this time.

U.S. Route 35 at Dixon Run Road in Jackson County, Ohio has been partially closed.

Only one lane of traffic is getting by in each direction.

Ohio State Police tell WSAZ that the crash was between two vehicles and it was a head on collision.
