DUNBAR, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 1/25/2018 @ 6:30 p.m.
A community is mourning the loss of a husband, father and grandfather.

It comes after the man was hit by two different cars, killing him, while he made his way to a Wednesday evening church service.

The accident happened on Roxalana Road in Dunbar.

Ritchard Pitchford, 86, of Dunbar was killed.

Dunbar Police are still looking for the second driver who hit him, because the car did not stop.

WSAZ spoke with some of his family and loved ones Thursday afternoon, including his wife Lorene Coffey Pitchford.

"We had some good times," she says.

The two had been married for almost ten years. They would have celebrated their 10th anniversary in the spring.

Lorenes says her husband was just "good," a good man, a good husband, a good father of three and grandfather to one.

The loss for her is even more difficult, becuase she witnessed the whole accident.

Pitchford's family says he did not say much, but his demeanor, smile and presence said everything he needed to.

Pitchford loved to travel, the beach and the mountains. He was born in West Virginia, raised here and spent most of his life in Dunbar.

"We just liked everything. We liked the beach more than the mountains. He liked out west, grand canyons and all the canyons, Black Hills and all that," his wife explains. "We just enjoyed everything."

Pitchford's family says he was also adventurous and a devoted church member at Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle, where the pastor says he has been attending for around 15 years.
