UPDATE: Accused murderer booked into prison

ROANE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 7/28/18 @ 9:24 p.m.
We’re learning new details after an accused murderer is now in jail after gunning down another man in Roane County.

Court documents say officers were searching for suspect Andrew “AJ” King in the Walton area of Roane County July 25th. Officers found King on Charleston Road and documents say he drove off in a stolen Suzuki ATV, wrecked it and then ran on foot.

Early the next morning, documents say a deputy was called that King was on the porch of a home on Charleston Road. While Roane County Deputies were heading to the scene, 911 told them shots had been fired at the home. When they arrived on scene, documents say they found Danny Marks lying the front yard with a gunshot wound to his head. Court documents say Marks was breathing and had a pulse, but was unconscious. On July 26th, documents say Danny Marks was pronounced dead at CAMC General as a result of the gunshot wound to his head.

Documents say officers were attending to Marks when they heard more gunfire from the home next door.

Deputies and Troopers raced next door, where they saw King running south on Route 119 holding a pistol and firing at law enforcement. Court documents say the homeowners had pulled into their driveway and tell officers they saw King run out of a drain pipe and shoot at their truck multiple times, hitting one of the occupants in the leg and the arm.

Andrew King is now in the South Central Regional Jail, facing charges of murder, attempted murder and others.



UPDATE 7/28/18 @ 3:30 p.m.
We’re learning new information after an accused murderer out of Roane County is now in jail.

Andrew “AJ” King is accused of shooting and killing Danny Marks.
West Virginia State Police say they transported King to the South Central Regional Jail Saturday.

Troopers tell WSAZ King is charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of malicious wounding, grand larceny, transferring/receiving stolen property, prohibited person with a firearm, conspiracy to commit a felony and driving on a suspended license.

King is currently being held without bond.



UPDATE 7/26/18 @ 6:15 p.m.
We now know the name of the woman who was shot Wednesday night in Roane County.

Sheriff Todd Cole has confirmed that woman was Terry Paxton of Walton.

According to Sheriff Cole, both victims, Danny Marks and Paxton, were shot by suspect Andrew "A.J." King along Route 119 late Wednesday night.

Just a short time ago, police confirmed that Marks had died from his injuries. Paxton is expected to be OK.

After the shooting, police say King then took off on an ATV, but police were finally able to find him and arrest him.

UPDATE 7/26/18 @ 5:35 p.m.
A man who was shot late Wednesday night in Roane County has died, Sheriff Todd Cole says.

The sheriff confirms that Danny Marks died Thursday.

The suspect, Andrew "A.J." King, 31, was caught earlier in the day Thursday.

A woman also was shot during the incident, but she is expected to be OK.

The identity of man who was shot in Roane County late Wednesday night has been released.

According to Sheriff Todd Cole, Danny Marks was one of the victims and died as a result of those injuries.

West Virginia State Police told WSAZ that Andrew "A.J." King who is the suspected shooter has been apprehended.

The search in Roane County for a man accused of shooting two people is over.

West Virginia State Police told WSAZ that Andrew "A.J." King has been apprehended.

UPDATE 7/26/18 @ 6:21 a.m.
The Roane County Sheriff's Department tell us they are actively searching for a man after a shooting.

They tell us Andrew "A.J." King was last seen with no shirt on, dark colored pants, and he had one hand gun. The sheriff's office says he should be considered armed and dangerous.

They told WSAZ that King, who is 31-years-old, had been making threats to his grandfather and law enforcement late Wednesday night. Law enforcement started chasing King when he took off on an ATV and wrecked it next door.

Officials tell us that's when King allegedly shot two people, a man and a woman, around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. He took off after that. The woman is expected to be OK, however the man is in bad shape.

According to deputies, King is not related to the man or woman.

The Spencer Police Department, Roane County Sheriff's Department and West Virginia State Police are all actively searching for King.

Rt. 119 is back open between McKown's Creek and Amber Ridge after being closed earlier this morning due to the ongoing search.

King will be charged with two counts of attempted murder, and two counts of malicious wounding.

ORIGINAL STORY: 7/26/2018 @ 2:56 a.m.
Rt. 119 is closed between McKown's Creek and Amber Ridge in Roane County, for what dispatchers will only say is a search.

The road has been shut down since shortly before 1 Thursday morning. Roane County Emergency Management says to use alternate routes and that Rt. 119 will be closed indefinitely.

West Virginia State Police are also involved in the search. No other details have been released. A WSAZ crew is headed to the scene.
