UPDATE | Runaway cow on Charleston highway causes traffic backup

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 10/9/19 @ 9:04 p.m.
A runaway cow has been captured and returned to its owner after getting loose on the road Wednesday.

A cow on Interstate 77 in Charleston caused a traffic backup at rush hour Wednesday.

Metro 911 dispatchers say the calf may have escaped its trailer near Greenbrier Street and the interstate entrance ramps.

Traffic was backed up on Interstate 77 after the escape as police officers worked to capture the animal.

Traffic is backed up Wednesday afternoon as a runaway cow is loose on the road.

Metro 911 dispatchers say the calf may have escaped its trailer and is standing near Greenbrier Street and the interstate entrance ramps.

Police officers are on scene trying to corral the calf off the road.
