Sheriff: largest meth seizure ever in Lewis County
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Deputies charged a Greenup County man following what they’re calling the largest meth seizure on record in the county.
According to Dennis K. Brown, Sheriff Johnny Bivens reports 40-year-old Greenup County man Ollin Driggers was arrested Saturday evening after a car was stopped. Deputies were investigating suspected drug activity, and were conducting surveillance in the area.
A half-pound of a substance, believed to be crystal meth, was seized from Driggers during the stop, along with other narcotics and cash.
Sheriff Bivens reports the average street price of crystal meth is roughly $80 - $100 per gram. There are roughly 230 grams in a half pound.
"We are grateful that this drug didn't reach its intended location as it would have had a major impact in several communities throughout Lewis County," Bivens said following the arrest.
Ollin Driggers faces first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
Driggers was booked into the Lewis County Detention Center, and Sheriff Bivens says he expects additional charges against several other people.
