Stabbing sends one man to hospital

Huntington Police Chief Ray Cornwell tells WSAZ that 57-year-old John Edwards was stabbed in the hip and right thigh.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed early Wednesday morning, according to Cabell County emergency dispatchers.

It happened in Huntington, in the 900 block of rear 9th Ave. a little before 12:30 Wednesday morning.

Huntington Police Chief Ray Cornwell tells WSAZ that 57-year-old John Edward Spears was stabbed in the hip and right thigh, and was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment.

Spears' injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Cornwell says the suspect is a woman, and that the victim and suspect knew each other only for a few hours.
