Strong turnout for West Virginia early voting
CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Voters around the state made their way to the polls as early voting wrapped up in West Virginia Saturday.
As of 6:15 Saturday evening, the Secretary of State's office said 94,842 people had cast their votes during early voting. The Secretary of State said that number includes 53 of the 55 counties and is not the final tally, as counties continue adding results.
During the first seven days of early voting, more than 63,000 residents came out and voted in the West Virginia primary. According to the Secretary of State, that's more than two times the early voting turnout during the same time period from the 2014 primary election.
Primary election day is on Tuesday. Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
