Survive and advance: Cats get past Wofford, 62-56


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WKYT) - Second-seeded Kentucky survived a tightly contested matchup with seventh-seeded Wofford, 62-56 , to advance to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Wildcats trailed for 14:06 of the first half. UK’s first lead came with :54 left in the opening frame, 26-24. The Cats led it 28-26 at the half.

Reid Travis hit two free throws with 17.8 seconds to give the Cats a 60-56 lead. Wofford’s Fletcher Magee missed a desperation three with the shot clock winding down and Tyler Herro hit two free throws with :04 to give the Cats the win.

Travis led UK with 14 points.

Magee finished 0-12 on three-point attempts. He is the NCAA’s all-time leader in made three-pointers.
