'Sweet Charity' Competition aims to help seniors live independently

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A sweet event to help senior stay in their own homes is happening Tuesday evening.

"Faith in Action" of the Greater Kanawha Valley is hosting it's fifth annual Sweet Charity Event on Tuesday, March 12 at the TransCanada auditorium, 1700 MacCorkle Ave in Charleston.

Tickets for the event are $25. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to help the mission of Faith in Action which is working with seniors to allow them to sustain their independence to live in their home as long as possible. From driving them to appointments, to grocery store visits, friendly visits and telephone reassurance calls, the organization is entirely volunteer driven.

In addition to desserts from area confectioners and chefs there will also be a coffee bar, live music and much more fun and fellowship.
