UPDATE: Mom pleads for safe return of teen missing since Christmas Eve

NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ) – UPDATE 1/1/18 @ 6:11 p.m.
WSAZ spoke to the mother of a teenage girl missing from the Nitro area.

Heather Nicole Williams, 18, was last seen around 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Police believe she could be in danger.

Her mom, Stella Williams, tells us that Heather is a rape victim. She says the suspect is out on bond.

It happened a few months back during the fall. Heather was in her first semester at Marshall University when her mother says she was raped. She is set to testify in the case, and the suspect has been out on bond for a couple weeks.

"Right now she's really questioning who cares about her, after what has happened to her," Stella tells WSAZ. "And now all of a sudden, she's gone."

Williams had to drop out after only three weeks due to the traumatizing experience.

"People do love you and they need you home," said Stella in a desperate plea to her daughter. "We miss you. We need to know that you're safe. This is awful."

When we asked Nitro Police if they believe the rape case is connected to Heather's disappearance, they said they are considering all possible angles.

However, Stella says her daughter could be with anyone. She says Heather has a history of befriending people online.

The family has reason to believe she could be in Lincoln County, but they can't be sure about where she is.

Police say Heather left her mom's apartment on Christmas Eve. She told family that she was meeting someone at the Wendy's in Nitro. She hasn't been seen since.

Stella says her daughter has never run away before and it's not like Heather to go off the radar.

Friends have not heard from Heather and the teen's social media pages are silent.

Heather is described as 5 feet 4 and 200 pounds with hazel eyes and hair dyed black. She also has an owl tattoo on the back of her neck (see the gallery with this story) and a semi-colon tattoo on her wrist.

Her mother says Heather likes to wear her hair up in a bun.

She was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nitro Police or 911.
