I-79 Southbound at the 3 mile marker reopens

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- I-79 Southbound at the 3 mile marker has reopened following a tractor trailer fire just north of Charleston.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- I-79 South is closed at the 3 mile marker following a tractor trailer fire around 5 a.m. Monday.

The fire happened just north of Charleston, around one mile before the Mink Shoals Exit.

Metro 911 dispatchers say the fire is out but crews are working to secure the area and remove the tractor trailer from along the interstate.

Officials urge drivers to use an alternate route coming into Charleston.

There were no injuries in the incident.

No information has been released about when the interstate will reopen.
