UPDATE: KSP says man found shot dead was trying to break into a home

WEEKSBURY, Ky. (WYMT) -- UPDATE 4/27/18 @ 4:42 p.m.
Kentucky State Police say one person is dead in the Weeksbury community of Floyd County. The coroner and a deputy coroner are also on scene.

Police say the victim is Michael Adney, age 37.

Police say Adney was shot after he apparently tried to break into a home. It happened around 8 a.m. Friday morning.

Interim Floyd County Superintendent Steve Trimble said South Floyd Elementary briefly went on lockdown because of the investigation. The lockdown has since been lifted, no students were in danger.

Many in the community say they have seen a change in the area and they fear violence and crime will get worse.

"I realized when I woke up there had been a shooting in Weeksbury, where I hand out a lot and help out. It just went through my mind, we had already been discussing that something bad was going to end up happening up here, and actually it had. It was a very scary feeling," said Carol Thornsberry, who lives in Wheelwright.

Adney's body is being sent to Frankfort for an autopsy.

Right now, it is unclear how the person died.
