UPDATE: Amber Alert suspect pleads not guilty

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 3/22/18 @ 10:35 a.m.
A man who faces abduction and kidnapping charges pleaded not guilty Thursday in Cabell County.

Carl Fortney is accused of abducting his daughter and stepdaughter and driving them outside the region. It happened last August. The incident prompted an Amber Alert to be issued.

Fortney's bond remains at $100,000.

He is scheduled back in court April 12.

A suspect in an Amber Alert issued Wednesday afternoon has been arrested in Grant County, West Virginia, Cabell County Sheriff's deputies say.

Carl Fortney faces kidnapping and child abduction charges.

His daughter and stepdaughter, Cherity Hannon, 14, and Cheylynn Fortney, 6, are reported to be safe.

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An Amber Alert has been issued for two girls believed to be with their father/stepfather.

Deputies say Cherity Hannon, 14, and Cheylynn Fortney, 6, were supposed to be returned to Huntington by their father/stepfather Sunday night, but they haven't shown up at home.

Carl Fortney is facing kidnapping and child abduction charges.

The three may be heading toward the Columbus, Ohio, area where the man is from.

They were last seen in Reedsville, W.Va. on Aug 28.

According to deputies, Cherity was last seen wearing a black top with gold trim, blue leggings and black boots. Cheylynn was last seen wearing pink and purple shorts and top with white sandals.

Fortney is 6 feet 6 and was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants.

Fortney may possibly be driving a 2013 white Volvo 670 model truck with a sleeper cab and road tractor.

The truck is registered out of Kentucky and the registration on the truck is A61916.

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Cabell County deputies are looking for two girls, and their father/stepfather is facing criminal charges after they weren't returned to their home.

Deputies say Cherity Hannon, 14, and Cheylynn Fortney, 6, were supposed to be returned to Huntington by their father/stepfather Sunday night, but they haven't shown up at home.

Deputies say Cherity is not supposed to be around her stepfather and Cheylynn was supposed to be dropped off Sunday night.

According to deputies, the father has a transponder in the company truck he's driving and disabled it.

The two girls didn't show up to school today and the company has reported the truck as stolen.
