UPDATE | Second armed robbery suspect arrested

Police arrested the second of two suspects in connection with an armed robbery at a gaming parlor in Mason County, West Virginia.

David Tyler Smith, 22, of Hurricane, turned himself in to the Point Pleasant Police Department. Officers then took him to the Western Regional Jail around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Hurricane Police already arrested Roger Lee Akers II, 29, also of Hurricane, Monday afternoon. He was captured in Teays Valley with assistance from the Putnam County Sheriff's Department. They found Akers around 4 p.m. and took him to the South Central Regional Jail.

Both are charged with felony armed robbery through Mason County Magistrate Court.

According to the Mason Police Department, the pair robbed the T&T #1 spot on Midway Street around 7:45 Sunday night.

The clerk told police the two men walked in and Akers demanded the cash register. When the clerk said no, Akers allegedly lifted his shirt and showed a gun. The clerk said Akers then ripped the cash register from the wall.

Mason Police thanked West Virginia State Police, the Mason County Sheriff's Department, Point Pleasant Police Department, Putnam County Sheriff's Department, and the Hurricane Police Department for their assistance.

Police captured one of two suspects wanted in connection with an armed robbery at a gaming parlor in Mason County, West Virginia.

Hurricane Police arrested Roger Akers in Teays Valley with assistance from the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

There is still a BOLO for the other suspect, but he has not been identified yet.

According to the Mason Police Department, T&T #1 spot on Midway Street was robbed around 7:45 Sunday night.

According to the clerk, the two men left in a white Chevy Silverado.

Police say you should not approach the suspect who is still on the run, but instead call 911 if you see him.

A BOLO has been issued for two men who were involved in an armed robbery at a gaming parlor.

Officer Clayton Gibbs with the Mason Police Department says T&T #1 spot on Midway Street was robbed around 7:45 Sunday night.

Officer Gibbs told WSAZ that Roger Akers, is a suspect, along with another man. That other person's name is still being investigated.

The clerk told police the two men walked in and Akers demanded the cash register.

When the clerk said no, Akers lifted his shirt and showed a gun then ripped the cash register up.

According to the clerk, the two men left in a white Chevy Silverado.

Officer Gibbs said it's believed Akers is in Putnam County.

The Mason Police Department told WSAZ people should not approach the men, but instead call 911.

The Mason Police Department is being aided in the investigation by the Mason County Sheriff's office and the West Virginia State Police.
