CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 11/26/18 @ 9:50 p.m.
A man who was the center of a week-long manhunt was arraigned on Monday.

Jeremy Bartram faces eight charges, including attempted murder and malicious wounding.

Deputies say Bartram shot at his ex-girlfriends home last June. His ex-girlfriend's mother and brother were shot, and a child was hurt by shrapnel.

As many as 60 officers were involved in the search around the Pea Ridge and Barboursville areas.

Bartram was taken into custody at his father's home along Norwood road in Huntington after his father talked him into giving himself up.

UPDATE 6/27/18 @ 5:50 p.m.
Neighbors in and around Barboursville were breathing a big sigh of relief Wednesday after Jeremy Bartram, the target of that weeklong manhunt, turned himself in Tuesday night.

Bartram now faces eight charges including attempted murder and malicious wounding and is behind bars at Western Regional Jail Wednesday night on a $1 million bond.

It seemed appropriate the birds were chirping along Williamsburg Drive Wednesday, the site of the initial incident more than a week ago.

Neighbors like Rebecca Wolford who had been monitoring scanners found out hours earlier that Jeremy Bartram was in custody, reinforced by updates on WSAZ.com.

"I ran over to my neighbor's house and was like, 'They got him, they got him,'” Wolford said.

She said the neighborhood has been a different place for the last seven days.

Boards now cover the windows that investigators said Bartram shot through last Wednesday as the people slept inside, including five children.

Cabell County Sheriff Chuck Zerkle said 13 shots were fired. The brother of Bartram's ex-girlfriend's was hit seven times and her mother was shot once, with one child hit by shrapnel. Bartram had been on the run since that incident.

"We were scared to let the kids out and play, not knowing where he was or when he might turn up," Wolford said. "We were on pins and needles, not knowing where he was and what was going to happen with that whole situation. I'm glad he turned himself in."

Wednesday afternoon, we stopped by Bartram's home on Iroqouis Trail, but no one came to the door.

It's the place where, just hours before the shooting, the child of Bartram and his ex-girlfriend visited.

Bartram gave himself in a few miles away at his father's home along Norwood Road. The father declined to do an interview with us.

"I think we kept pushing and pushing, and the net kept closing and closing. I think he was wore out after Monday," Zerkle said.

The sheriff adds he's happy with the response from his deputies, as well as the nearly dozen other agencies who have helped.

"That magnitude of what we did, you'd have thought it was a multiple murder and it could have well been that," he said.

But he said one mistake in the search may have been made Monday, right after Bartram shot at authorities in the cemetery.

"Maybe we should have pushed him a little faster but we're trying to reorganize just so we don’t get a situation where we were blue on blue, cop on cop," Zerkle said.

While more work is needed for that home on Williamsburg Drive, Wolford said the real damage is emotional and mental for the kids who were inside a week ago.

"It's going to be a hard road for them,” she said. “That's a scary thing to wake up to and then to have to be scared for a week."

According to court documents, more than five years ago, a protective order for Jeremy Bartram's ex-girlfriend was denied because she did not want to pursue the matter in civil court.

Her family has declined to speak with us or release a statement at this time.

Bartram also refused our interview request from jail.
