UPDATE: 6-year-old recovered from river in Martin County, Kentucky

The Martin County Sheriff tells WSAZ a 6-year-old child has died after falling into a river.

It happened Monday in the Warfield community in Martin County, Kentucky.

Sheriff John Kirk tells us a couple driving on the West Virginia side of Tug Fork River saw the child's body floating down the river.

Sheriff Kirk tells WSAZ the body was found about two hours after the child fell in.

The name of the child has not been released at this time.

Emergency officials tell us a 6-year-old has been recovered from a river.

It happened Monday afternoon in the Warfield Community of Martin County, Kentucky.

Fire crews tell us it happened at Tug Fork river, that's the river that separates Kentucky and West Virginia.
