KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – UPDATE 4/19/19 @ 12:20 p.m.
Investigators released the name of a man who died in a car crash in Kanawha County earlier this week.

Steven Cooper, 60, of Spencer, was killed when he drove over a hillside Wednesday.

The accident happened around 8:20 p.m. on I-79 in the Frame area.

Deputies say Cooper was driving northbound. Around mile marker 11, he went around a curve and crossed the median into the southbound lanes. He then went over a hillside and crashed into a rock wall and ditch.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

No other vehicles were involved. Nobody else was injured.

Although they're still early in the investigation, deputies believe Cooper may have lost control of his car because of a pre-existing medical condition.
