CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A water main break has closed several streets in downtown Charleston.
The break happened near the Transit Mall on Laidley Street about 1:30 Friday morning. Water was standing on the surrounding streets, which are blocked off by police.
The water has iced over the streets and sidewalks in the area. I large amount of water has also damaged the road and walking areas.
Laidley Street near the Transit Mall will be closed while crews work to repair the line and treat the roads.
Salt trucks are working in the area to treat the roads and remove the ice.
