West Virginia History Day set for Feb. 21 at Capitol

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- The 23rd annual West Virginia History Day is being held next week at the state Capitol.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 21. The state Department of Arts, Culture and History says that state and local historical groups will have displays in the Capitol's upper rotunda. The exhibits will include photos, historical documents and artifacts.

The "History Hero" awards ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Culture Center in the Norman L. Fagan West Virginia State Theater. Awards will be given to 39 people who have contributed to the preservation of local or regional history or who help historical, genealogical, preservation and museum organizations.
