WILLIAMSON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Williamson police chief Grady Paul Dotson said he believes everything happened for a reason last Wednesday.

Chief Dotson told WSAZ he likes to eat pretty healthy, but last week he decided to treat himself by sitting down for a meal at Hardees in South Williamson, Ky. While he was there, he heard a woman calling for help.

Chief Dotson jumped up and performed the Heimlich maneuver on a choking woman in the restaurant.

The food was dislodged, and Chief Dotson called for medical help as a precaution.

Chief Dotson checked on the women periodically over the next week and she is doing well.
