PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A woman's body was found Tuesday morning in a parked vehicle in the 1900 block of Robinson Avenue, Portsmouth Police say.

Employees of a nearby business, Goodwill Industries, made the discovery about 7:25 a.m.

The body appeared to have been there for several hours, and Portsmouth Fire Department crews helped remove it.

Due to the effects of high temperatures, it could be a while before a positive identification and cause of death are determined, police say.

The body was taken to the Montgomery County Morgue for an autopsy. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Portsmouth Police Department Detective Bureau at (740) 354-1600.

The Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are assisting in the investigation.
