Worker at Hurricane McDonald's diagnosed with Hepatitis A
The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department tells WSAZ.com a worker at McDonald's in Hurricane has been diagnosed with hepatitis A.
There are more than 80 cases of acute hepatitis A under investigation in Kanawha and Putnam counties.
Several of those cases involve food service workers.
Andy Haughey, owner and operator of the affected McDonald’s, issued the following statement:
"We were informed by the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department that one of our employees has become ill; however, the transmission risk to guests and employees who’ve visited our restaurant is deemed extremely low. We are fully cooperating with local and state health officials to investigate this matter to ensure the health and safety of our employees and guests. We are committed to providing a clean and safe environment for all who visit our restaurant.”
