IRVING, Texas Marshall’s Jon Elmore was named first-team All-Conference USA, as C.J. Burks was named to third-team and Taveion Kinsey was named to the all-freshman team when the league office announced the all-conference teams on Monday.
Elmore leads the team in scoring (19.9 points per game) and assists (152). The senior guard has also had 51 steals and blocked 17 shots during the season and was named C-USA Player of the Week on Mar. 4. Elmore added to his illustrious career throughout the season as he became the all-time leading scorer in conference history and is the only player in NCAA history to be the all-time conference leader in assists and points. He is also the only player in NCAA history to have 2,500 points and 700 assists in a career.
Burks follows Elmore in points for the Herd with 17.7 points per game, while also being second on the team in assists (86) and steals (58). The senior guard is also shooting 47.8 percent from the field, has scored 30 or more points in four games this season and recorded the first double-double of his career on Jan. 24 at Louisiana Tech. Burks was named C-USA Player of the Week on Jan. 21.
Kinsey had quite the freshman season for the Herd. The freshman was third on the team in scoring with 9.9 points while bring down 3.8 boards per contest. He received the C-USA Freshman of the Week award twice during the season, Jan. 7 and Jan. 21. Kinsey has scored 10 or more points in 16 games this season and is currently on a streak of six games in reaching the double-figure plateau.
The Herd is back in action on Wednesday at 10 p.m. EST/9 p.m. CST against the 11-seeded Rice Owls in Frisco, Texas, at 2019 C-USA Tournament.
