HUNTINGTON Marshall Athletics Director Mike Hamrick announced, with the city of Huntington's help, that it has begun plans to build an $18-20 million dollar baseball facility on an 8-acre site between 3rd and 5th avenues on Marshall's campus.
The proposed stadium would seat 3,500 people and allow Marshall to pursue other baseball events, including a possible minor league baseball franchise.
"It will truly be a magnificent venue that is on par with our indoor practice facility and soccer stadium," Hamrick said.
"Our hats are off to the city and its partners for their work in the land development."
Hamrick said the timetable is to have a project bid in hand by November, with construction beginning in March of 2020. He said the goal is to have Marshall baseball in the new stadium in the spring of 2021..
