How can I help reduce the mosquito population in my neighborhood?
Be observant for containers that hold water lying in the yard such as empty flower pots, childrens toys etc. Change bird bath water weekly. Empty water from old tires.

What can I do to keep my family safe from mosquito bites?
Use a mosquito repellent that contains deet. There are other repellents available to use. If possible wear long sleeve light colored clothing.

Can I call the Health Department for help?
The health department will be trapping and identifying mosquitoes again this year. When a complaint comes in the environmental technicians will visit the area and see what can be done to help lower the numbers of mosquitoes in the area.

Risk Factors for Diabetes

  • 45 years of age or older
  • Obese or overweight
  • Parent, sister, or brother with diabetes
  • African American, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian, Asian American, or Pacific Islander
  • History of gestational diabetes or birth of a baby weighing ≥ 9 lbs.
