Original Story

BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Entertainer Jesco White, best known as West Virginia's "Dancing Outlaw," was arrested Monday night on drug charges.

Boone County Sheriff Rodney Miller tells that charges were filed against White Monday afternoon.

Miller says they got a tip that Jesco and his sister,Sue Ann, were going to buy cocaine off a local dealer. They were busted with more than 2 grams of cocaine.

They are both facing Felony charges of Conspiracy and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

A recent documentary about White from MTV producers debuted last weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival. Members of White's family said the film casts them in a negative light, and they say they have changed their ways since then.

Sheriff Miller says the film also has the family suspicious of authorities.

“They thought that as a result of the film law enforcement were on some type of headhunting exhibition. It's just a matter of timing more than anything else,” he said.

For Mamie White, she’s upset that her family has gotten another black eye.

“It makes me sad and heartbroken. I try to preach and preach and preach, but nobody will listen to me,” Mamie said. “I think this here will teach Jesco White a big lesson.”

Jesco gave a jailhouse interview Tuesday. He says he’s been clean for 30 years and doesn’t do cocaine. He’s known for loving the spotlight, but he doesn’t appreciate this negative attention.

“I'm hurt and embarrassed,” Jesco said. “I'm not a bad person.”
