UPDATE: All Lanes of W.Va. Turnpike Reopen after Tractor-Trailer Fire

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The closed portion of the West Virginia Turnpike has reopened after a tractor-trailer fire shut down a southbound lane Wednesday afternoon.

The semi driver suffered second-degree burns in the incident and was taken to the hospital.

The fire started about 3 p.m. in the southbound lanes just past the tollbooth near Chelyan.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Part of the West Virginia Turnpike is still closed after a tractor-trailer caught on fire Wednesday.

The fire started about 3 p.m. in the southbound lanes just past the tollbooth near Chelyan.

The driver of the truck had to be taken to the hospital with second-degree burns.

The truck was carrying steel coils.

Traffic is backed up for miles in the area.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Crews are on the scene of a tractor trailer fire on the West Virginia Turnpike.

The fire was reported in the southbound lanes near the first toll booth in Kanawha County.

Dispatchers say it is a box style truck that is on fire. No word on what the truck is carrying.

One southbound lane is closed in the area.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital. We don't know how badly the person was hurt.
